About us.

Cub Scout Pack 2255

Our Mission: At Cub Scout Pack 2255, we inspire young boys and girls from Centerport and Greenlawn and the surrounding Huntington area to explore, learn, and grow through fun adventures, hands-on activities, and community spirit. We believe in building character, encouraging leadership, and helping children develop skills they will carry for life.

Who We Are

Cub Scout Pack 2255 serves the Huntington Township community on Long Island, New York and is chartered by the Centerport Fire Department. Our family-centered pack brings together children from Kindergarten through 5th grade—boys and girls alike—and is grounded in the values of respect, teamwork, and a lasting sense of adventure.

What Is Cub Scouting?

Cub Scouting is the foundation of the Scouting program for younger youth (grades K–5), offering experiences that build character, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership in fun, developmentally appropriate ways. Scouts progress through rank milestones—Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos—as they complete hands-on adventures and earn recognition along the way before crossing over as an Arrow of Light to a Scout Troop.

What We Do in Pack 2255

Our pack blends outdoor exploration, creativity, and service with a variety of activities, including:

  • Outdoor Adventures: Camping under the stars, hiking local trails, and fishing trips.
  • Hands‑On Learning: Pinewood Derby car creations and races, STEM challenges, and problem-solving projects.
  • Community Service: Food drives, park cleanups, and local projects that instill pride and responsibility.
  • Pack & Den Meetings: Monthly gatherings where scouts develop skills, earn badges, and celebrate together.
  • Special Events: Seasonal celebrations, family outings, and collaborative events with other Scouting units.

Arrow of Light & Crossover to Scouts BSA

The Arrow of Light is the highest Cub Scout honor—especially significant because it is the only Cub Scout badge recognized by Scouts BSA. As Webelos earn this award, they gain leadership, outdoor, and service skills that prepare them for the next phase of Scouting.

Our annual Crossover Ceremony that coincides with the Blue and Gold Banquet celebrates this milestone, honoring our Arrow of Light recipients as they transition into Scouts — a meaningful moment marking both achievement and new beginnings.

Your Full Path in Scouting

Pack 2255 maintains strong connections with local Scouts BSA troops, ensuring a seamless transition for families. Our Cub Scouts often “cross over” into Troop 113 and Troop 32, serving Centerport, Greenlawn, and Huntington, and other local Troops offering opportunities for continued growth, camping, and leadership development.

These troops offer expanded Scouting adventures—from summer camps and backpacking to leadership roles—providing the next step in the journey from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA.

Why Families Love Pack 2255

Cub Scouting is more than an after-school program—it’s a growth journey. Kids gain resilience, responsibility, and respect, while forging friendships and forging memories. Parents and guardians are active participants, helping guide Scouts at every stage.
